How to Create a Blog

The word blog comes from “web-log”, and it's really just a personal web page, on which people post their thoughts, opinions, pictures, or anything else that they choose. Using a blog is a quick and easy way to get your own website, and it's free too.

How to Create a Blog

There are many websites which allow you to create and update blogs, but the best known and most widely used is Blogger (http://www.blogger.com). On their home page, you'll see that they list three steps – 1 Create an account, 2 Name your blog, 3 Choose a template – and it really is that simple. Complete those three steps, and you're ready to go.

If you don't already have a Google account, you'll need to create one, which requires an existing email address.

After you've filled in the fields, click the “Continue” arrow at the bottom of the page, and you'll be asked to fill in your blog title.

As well as the title, you need to fill in a blog address, which is a web address which you will then be able to use to access your blog directly. Again, when you've entered this, click on the “Continue” arrow.

The next stage is to select a template. Browse through what's available, and select the one that you like.

After you've done this, click the “Continue” arrow again. You'll be directed to a page which allows you to make your first post.

Enter a title and the body of the text. You can select portions of the text and change the font, size, alignment etc., just as you would do in a word processing application. When you're finished, click “Publish Post”, and then “View Blog” on the next page, and you'll see your blog with its first post.

To add more posts, click “New Post” in the top right-hand corner. When you do this, you'll be taken to the same page that you used to create your first post. This also has a “Edit Posts” button, which allows you to go back and make changes to previous posts.
