The Taskbar is composed of four main parts, which are identified in the pictures below (in reality, the taskbar is a single bar running the width of the screen, but the different parts are shown separately below for clarity). These parts are explained in the following sections.
The Start Menu. This allows access to all programs, files and folders.
The Quick Launch Toolbar. This provides easy access to frequently-used programs.
Open Programs and Documents. This identifies the programs and files which are open, making it easy to switch quickly between them.
The Notification Area (also known as the System Tray). This contains a clock, plus icons which show the status of selected programs and computer settings.
