Sidebars and Gadgets

A sidebar displays various applications (known as gadgets) at the edge of the screen. These gadgets can provide useful information (displaying things like the time, weather, latest news stories etc.), and easy access to useful tools.

The most common sidebars are the one provided by Windows Vista, and the one that comes as part of the Google Desktop. These are described in detail, along with descriptions of our favorite gadgets, in the following sections:
